The reports are flying in thick and fast that the 2013 Ski Season is going to be a memorable one.  See the SkiClub GB link below for a very positive article.

A few notices that I will also release via Parentmail.

  1. I will need a meeting with students on Thursday 10th January .  Can parents put 'Meet Mr Deans in CR6 after school' on the family calendar.   I hope to release room allocations at this meeting so it is very important!
  2. Ms Tait will be giving out information about the  two trips to Tamworth Snowdome at the meeting.
  3. Just one or two families have yet to fully pay their balance.  Please complete all payments ASAP please!
  4. The Ski Hoody orders will be going off early January so if you still want one see Mrs Bond. This year we have a 'Bond' theme...

Please direct any questions about the trip to my school email account - mdeans@wbs.eu.com.  No question is trivial - ask away!

Post meeting issues - 23/11/12

Many thanks for the positive emails I received after the meeting last night.  I try to keep people awake when I have to speak for an hour!

I thought it might be useful to re-iterate and share with you the answers to the questions I have received today.

"Is the alcohol ban for all 18+ students?"

One of the benefits of using a dedicated English school group hotel is that they can meet the specific needs of students and teachers.  For the 18+ students it does have one small downside compared to the normal 'civilian' hotels we use - they WILL NOT serve school group students irrespective of age.

When we go out for a pizza on one of the nights if general behaviour and atmosphere has been good we will probably let the 18+ have a beer or wine with the meal.

How big is a 'medium bag'.

This is my bag - it has a 60 litre capacity and can easily be squashed into corners in the hold of the coach.  It is the large end of medium and is fine.

Can I bring my own ski's, boots and helmet

No problem at all - we usually fit the 2 or 3 extra pairs of skis into my ski bag and the drivers put it into their hold area under the coach.  The responsibility for the DIN settings on the ski's lies with the family rather than with the ski company however.

Ski Trip Meeting - 22/11/13

RISOUL 2013

This is the site where I will Blog the ski trip.  I will endeavor to add some information  every day while we are away.

I will also add as many photographs as possible to show what is going on during the trip.  If you do not wish any photographs to appear of your child let me know and I'll avoid at all costs.  It may be unavoidable for whole group photos however.

I try and ski with all the groups so a photo of your child will appear here at least once by the end of the week.

You should have received an A3 sheet with all the information you require on it.  However as a reminder:

  • Ski gear – we recommend you put these items in your hold bag:
    • Salopettes
    • Thermal Underwear set or long sleeve t-shirts & Track suit trousers.
    • Ski Socks (minimum 3 pairs)
    • Ski Gloves
    • Goggles
    • Sun Glasses (You NEED both – goggles and glasses – without goggles it is impossible to ski in even the smallest dusting of a snowfall and when the sun is hot even the best goggles fog up).
    • Factor 50+ Sun Block
    • Lip Sun Block – so your lips don’t turn in to large, red, agonising bananas.
    • Fleece Jumper (s)

  • We will leave school on Friday 15th February at 16.15 which means we arrive at the resort on Saturday 16th February at 17:00.

We leave Risoul on 22nd Feb at 17.20.  That means we will arrive back at school on Saturday the 23rd February at 15.00.   This is the time given to us by Skiplan – Invariably the coach drivers go into warp drive on the way home and we often arrive 1-2 hours earlier.
